I embarked on my journey as an Investment Banker in Singapore over 8 years ago, a decision fueled by my fascination with the intricate world of finance and a desire to make a real impact on the global market. Throughout these years, I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the most prestigious financial institutions and experienced firsthand the dynamic nature of this profession.

 

The Hard part I feel about this profession as per my experience till now:

One of the foremost challenges I encountered was the rigorous competition within the industry. Singapore, being a hub for finance and a melting pot of international talent, fosters an environment where only the best thrive. The pressure to stay ahead of the curve and consistently deliver results can be overwhelming.

Furthermore, the demanding workload and long hours are aspects that cannot be ignored. Investment banking isn’t for the faint-hearted; it requires dedication, persistence, and the ability to maintain focus even during high-stress situations. Balancing personal life with such commitments has often posed a significant challenge.

 

Things I find interesting or feel “happy” about this profession are:

Despite the challenges, the realm of investment banking is exceptionally rewarding. Being part of a team that shapes global economies and facilitates financial growth is immensely gratifying. The intellectual stimulation and the constant need to adapt to market trends keep me engaged and excited.
