#7 Experience Of A MSc. Graduate!

Profession: MSc graduate in ecology and biodiversity.

Experience: 4 years

Location: Europe, Slovenia, Ljubljana

The Hard part i feel about this profession as per my experience till now is :

I believe the hardest thing is mastering the basics of this very diverse topic. There is a lot of theoretical knowledge as well as laboratory work and work in the field. People are often scared to ask what you actually do or refer to you as someone, who has some version of a crazy idea to save the world. Another downside is, that the number of positions is very limited since they are mostly related to regions and the status of the area under conservation.

Things one might find interesting or feel “happy” about this profession is :

It’s diversity. We can talk about the conservation of organisms (plants and animals) and habitat types (rear, important etc.), management (water, waste etc.), as well as monitoring.

The fascinating part is, that all of those things are somehow connected to one another, meaning that all of them need to be in good shape in order to function as they should.

The projects you are given to work on (even in the same field) vary greatly from one another, forcing you to think out of the box and know at least the basics from many other fields.

Pros And Cons which i feel about this profession is :

Pros: Diversity of work (different steps of the project require different approaches), a lot to learn, thinking outside of a box, better understanding and deep connection with nature, being in the nature.

Cons: working in hard conditions (cold, rain etc.), working a lot in some periods and very little in others, changing the biorhythm in order to work on a project, always keeping an eye out for application possibilities.

The scenario of this field in my country as per my experience :

Students studying in this field – be prepared not to be able to get a job in exactly this branch of biology. The whole studies are very diverse and give you an overview of many fields. You also shouldn’t be afraid to improvise and go out of the confort zone – if you are bold it really pays off.

My suggestions for students studying in this field :

For students studying in this field, be prepared not to be able to get a job in exactly in this branch of biology.

The whole studies are very diverse and give you an overview of many fields. You also shouldn’t be afraid to improvise and go out of the comfort zone – if you are bold it really pays off.

What my personal experience says about this profession :

It is hard to find a position in this field, but once you do, and if you love nature, everything is worth it. There is a lot of diversity and not two days are the same, which also means you need to be very flexible with this kind of work. Because of my love for nature, i have also started a blog, where I write about ecology and nature.

I feel this interview by proworkk.com is beneficial for both sides.

From my side – I get to educate people, which is very important for me and from another side people are able to see how important and underrated this profession really is.

Need to know more about my work?

I also cover the problems we face because of our way of living and the decisions we make. I also write about technology, that is in a way connected to nature (renewable sources of energy, etc.).If you find these topics interesting i would like to invite you to visit my website  http://www.tiazim.com

  1. I’m impressed, I must say. Rarely do I come
across a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and
without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue
that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy I came across this in my hunt for something relating to this.
